Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about the 48Days.NET community through a podcast that Dan Miller gives on 48 Days. I found the podcast throught the iTunes business section.

I hope to be an inspiration to others just as Dan Miller has been to me. I am taking the necessary steps to achieve my definite chief aim in my personal and business life.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I currently work in the culinary department at a great resort on the island of Kaua'i that brings me income to put towards my business. I am a year away from achieving my Bachelors Degree in Operations Management with an Emphasis in Logistics from Ashford University. As I near that goal, I will push to move into the Food and Beverage Department and work my way to be a Food and Beverage Director for a great resort.

I am also currently doing research towards the launch of my business, a Hawaiian lifestyle clothing company that reflects the personality and values of my familiy.
And then...what is the goal/dream you are striving for regarding your work life?
My two business passions in life are clothing and food.  I am currently in the process of opening my Hawaiian Soul Living Clothing Company and launching my clothing line.  I am putting a modern twist on old classics as I bring forth designs that are complex and contain double meanings and sometimes triple meanings.  Clothing is a canvas for me to showcase the Hawaiian lifestyle and culture intertwined with my ideas and knowledge.  My marketing plan is different from what is going on in the marketplace today as I have a strategy that I know the industry needs.  My other passion is food.  I am currently a cook at the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i Resort and Spa and is striving hard to become a Food and Beverage Director for a Resort like this one or any other that will offer me the challenge.  I love to cook and serve my family dinner on my off days.  Some past meals that I have made for them include a Grilled Ribeye Steak topped with a garlic and chive compound butter and served with horseradish mashed potatoes and sautéed heri coverts.  Another include Blackened Ahi seared rare over sautéed baby bok choy in a garlic shoyu over steamed white rice and topped with a wasabi beurre blanc.  I show my passion for food with my family and someday I would love to showcase it for others as well.  We dine out ocasionally to taste what others have to display as well.  I want my family to step outside of their comfort zones when it comes to food and know that it is fine to taste cuisines that are different and spontaneous.  When people see the fire in my eyes, they see the passion.  I hope that everyone goes after their passions, things that arouse them to action.  I am having the time of my life as I pursue mine.  I live this life with no regrets, for everything that we want is within reach if we are willing to take the first step.  A wise man once said, "keep living as if today is our last day.  Someday we may be right".

In my first year, I will concentrate on great quality t-shirts, hats, beanies, boardshorts, lanyards, webbing belts, keychains and decals with outrageous designs from my family and I. I will be hands on with this company as most of the work will be done at my command. I will be working with great companies to execute my vision.

My Definite Chief Aim (Hill, 2008, p.61)
To be THE best brand showcasing the Hawaiian culture and lifestyle in the state, nation and world through creativity, purpose and profitability.

Furthermore, I want to tithe 10% of my business income to God for being faithful to me. Achieving thee two goals will make my company successful.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I want to become a great man of God and be able to shine the light so that others may see and praise my Father in heaven. I want to live out the quotation in Mathew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
What would you say are your core competencies? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
Some unique core values that I have as a company reflects on the core values that I have for myself. These are:
1) Be dedicated. Dedicate time to something purposeful. For example, I like to dedicate some time in my day to devotions and prayer. God is very faithful to me.
2) Be a hard worker. Go above and beyond what is asked of you. In Matthew 5:41, Jesus says "If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles."
3) Be humble. Do the work regardless of who gets the credit. True leaders give the credit to his or her team.
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
When my website is up and running, please stop by and visit. You will be surprise to what you see with the concept.

Welcome Hoku!

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

Also, I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, if you happen to be a speaker or author (or want to become either), check out these two groups. They are two of the most popular groups on the site because of all the great conversation taking place:

* Speak It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Speakers!
* Write It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Writers!

Again, enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian

Please let me clarify more on the 1st question of my profile.  What I hope to achieve from this 48 Days Community is encouragement and support of being an entrepreneur, a disciplined Business owner and a graphic designer.  Perhaps there are other clothing company business owners that may share some light on my journey.
