Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about this site through the 48Days podcast. I am looking forward to interacting with like-minding folks that are being proactive in their lives and careers.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am currently a full-time employee at an engineering consulting firm, and I enjoy my "day job". I also have a thriving part-time business helping busy people make fitness work in their lives at FitMarriage.com

Plus, I run a popular marriage blog at EngagedMarriage.com where I focus on helping couples live a married life they love.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I see myself working in engineering part-time (hopefully with an ownership interest in a consulting firm) while coaching/writing part-time as well.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I am a very happy family man, so my personal goals are geared towards ensuring my family's comfort and financial security so we can continue to enjoy our time together. I also have a passion for helping married couples (and those preparing for marriage), which was the genesis behind the creation of my websites.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am good at taking large problems and breaking them down into small pieces that can be solved through a process.

I have also been complimented on my speaking and writing skills, most meaningfully at marriage preparation workshops where my wife and I have been instructors.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

More than one website?

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:

Why an Engineer Created a Marriage Website: My Book Review of "No More Mondays"

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 9:01am 1 Comment

As members of this site, it is probably safe to assume that many of you have already read Dan's bestseller No More Mondays. However, we probably each have a different take on the book's purpose and impact based on the circumstances in our life at the time that we read it.

For me, my reading of No More Mondays came at a time when I really needed it. No, my "day job" was not sucking the life out of me, and I wasn't in any particular rut at work. Instead, I was trying to… Continue

Hey Dustin,

Thanks for the response and for joining Clearing the Hurdle. I, too, have a passion for the niche you described - engaged and young married couples. I'm currently working on a book specifically centered on financial unity for that specific market, which should be out early next year.

I love the idea of doing some speaking and training workshops. There's a tremendous opportunity to encourage folks at that stage in life to stay out of the trap of being "normal" and instead thriving in their marriage.

My personal blog is Get Busy Living, though you'll find regular posts from me in my weekly newsletter Reader's Group.

I'd love to continue bouncing ideas back and forth with you.

These days it seems my life is measured in 15 minute blocks - not sure if many will find this useful but my longtime information technology background tends to point me toward technology solutions. This means, of course, that I am pretty much addicted to the iPhone. I use the iBlueSky mind mapping software to capture useful ideas any time they come along..
