How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about it through 212 Connection. I hope to learn as much as I can about pursuing my dreams, and help others do the same.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Self-employed - Clear Connections Dyslexia Tutoring - I'm working with kids who struggle with reading. My son has dyslexia which puts me in the position of not only having professional experience, but also personal experience. It is so rewarding seeing the kids move forward academically and to see them gain confidence and self-esteem. I am generating my own income and look to increase it this coming school year by working with more kids.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Right now, it's working one-on-one with dyslexic kids. In the future, I want to create multiple streams of income that are tied into dyslexia. It's interesting...I have been able to take a little of the "Women Need Chocolate" idea that you see blog entries from on my page, and reach out to the moms of these dyslexic kids. I have a very relaxing room in my home where the moms can kick back in a big, oversized chair. They take time for themselves by reading, listening to music, or even taking a nap. Each week I leave them a couple of pieces of chocolate on a napkin in the chair. They love it. And this is all while their child is being helped and encouraged through tutoring. It's a win/win situation!

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I am a trained dyslexia tutor specializing in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Orton-Gillingham has been called the "Gold Standard" of teaching children with dyslexia. It is an approach, not a method because it is flexible to the individual needs of the child. If your child has dyslexia or struggles with reading, then the best gift you can give them is tutoring. I provide multisensory, one-on-one tutoring in the areas of reading, spelling and handwriting. Your child will receive individualized instruction according to his or her needs. I work closely with you, as parents, in order to best help your child. I believe that it is very important to build a positive, encouraging relationship with your child. I want your children to know that they don't have to face the hurdle of dyslexia by themselves.  We are a team. I've gotten some wonderful testimonials from my parents. One parent said, "My son was slowly falling behind with his reading skills. We knew he had dyslexia and a trained Orton-Gillingham tutor was what he needed. Cindy's teaching skills has made learning fun and interesting. Cindy has a very upbeat and positive personality. Kyle received an Excellence in Reading award and finished the year with all A’s.  We are so proud of his accomplishments this year."

Hangin' With The HomeGirls

Spring is in the air! You can see it…the trees are beginning to leaf out, the flowers are beginning to bloom. You can smell it in the air. The sunshine feel so good. It’s wonderful! Just ask my son if spring is here. Well, just look at my son…he doesn’t have to say anything. He’s congested and his eyes are all red and swollen. Just yesterday, he says to me, “What’s up with this? I’ve never had allergies before!” So now instead of enjoying the beginning of spring season with all its beauty, he’s…See More

The Preservatives In Chocolate Will Make You Look Younger

The preservatives in chocolate will make you look younger. Yeah, don’t we wish! Did you know that some people have tried to show that chocolate is healthy? The rationalization: Chocolate is derived from cacao beans, and beans are vegetables. Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar beets, which are plants, placing them in the vegetable category. Thus chocolate is a vegetable. To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is a dairy product. All in all, chocolate…See More

Hey, This Woman Speaks My Language

Recently, a bunch of us went to a local chain restaurant called the Cracker Barrel. If you’re not familiar with Cracker Barrel, it’s a home-cooking restaurant with a big country store you can browse through while you’re waiting to be seated. Just as we walked in the doors, the first thing I noticed was a big display with none other than…chocolate. I don’t mean just chocolate bars and candies, but chocolate everything. There were coffee cups, pillows, plaques,…

So...What's In Your Box?

Posted on August 27, 2009 at 7:53am 0 Comments

Raise your hand if you feel like you live in a box. I don't mean your actual home, but the place you live in your own head. You know, it's where you have all your internal conversations with yourself, about yourself. It's where you keep all of your beliefs about who you are and what you can accomplish in life. Most of us mentally live in boxes that have an itty, bitty living space. We've boxed ourselves in and have a hard time seeing past that.

What do you think and say about… Continue

Make Way!

Do you ever wish that your life was going in a different direction from what it is now? Do you ever wonder what your purpose is for being on this earth? Do you have thoughts and dreams that you've never realized? Most of us can answer "yes" to all of these questions with the main reason being that we live in a rut. The definition of a rut is a fixed or established mode of procedure or course of life, usually dull or unpromising. Wow! That definition makes you stop and think. But, even so, we… Continue

Hi,

I want to extend an invitation to you to join the group I am the host for a group called "Making A DREAM" where we are discussing our dreams and what we are doing to make them happen!

If you are interested in starting a business or learning more about planning, I invite you to challenge yourself with a FREE 7 day eCourse on my website. I offer this free because I want to introduce people to a different way of planning a business, the Agile way.

A Vision with out a Goal is just a Dream
A Goal without a Plan Is just a Wish

I hope you will join me in not just setting GOALS but making Agile PLANS to meet them.

Peace
