How to get
your own ISBN for books you write:
An ISBN
number is really needed to give you a professional appearance --
and to open up the possibility of bookstore sales. It provides an
internationally accepted tracking system -- most bookstores,
including Amazon, will not handle anything without one.
Here's the

It's the
only site -- so it's not like you can shop any
competitors.
You have to
get a minimum of 10 numbers -- but then you're set for paperback,
hardback, CDs, electronic versions, etc.

COPYRIGHTS
A
copyright is the legal protection for patterns, board
games,newspapers, articles, books, music, computer software, plays,
poetry, movies, maps and drawings – among many other
things.
As opposed to patents and trademarks, a copyright exists
automatically upon the creation of the work. I know this is hard to
understand, but if you write a book, no registration is necessary
for it to be copyrighted. Copyright originates automatically and
immediately when the work is created. And yes, you can use the ©
symbol just to remind anyone that copyright protection is being
claimed on this work. (Incidentally, I am pulling these symbols
from “Insert” on the Microsoft Word toolbar at the top of the page.
It’s easy to pick and insert any symbol you need. Copyright
protection lasts for the life of the author plus 50 years and need
no renewal. Here’s the link for the U.S. Library of Congress

I
was trying to find an older podcast on your web site in which you
mentioned a man who sells pencils on his web site, as a humorous
novelty item, but I can't remember the name of the web site, and
searching your podcast summaries didn't turn up anything. Here it
is. Silvana Clark has sold over 85,000 of her panic buttons with no
advertising.
What is the best way to network with other small business owners to

As
you can see, this is pretty informal. We just started meeting each
week from 7:00 to 8:30 AM on Wednesdays and the group has developed
its own identity over time.
Occam’s Razor–it’s a scientific
concept that has to do with finding the simplest explanation. But
here………………………. I mention this frequently as a principle for
business. If you want to sell 50,000 books you can look for 50,000
individuals to purchase one – or you can look for one organization
that would order 50,000.
