If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. This is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.
We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.
I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.
We are just finalizing the live events we'll be having at the Sanctuary in 2013. I've never been more excited about some of the resources we're going to be able to share with you to accelerate your success.
Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.
This week we're highlighting:
Featured Discussion – Kim Anstaett asked for suggestions for resources for planning big goals for 2013 in Strategic Planning 101 – advice. Members jumped in with great books, roadmaps and coaches for accomplishing those Big Hairy Audacious Goals. The sharing of wisdom and resources in this group continues to amaze me – you can definitely leave the crowd if you use even part of what’s been shared here. Add your tips as well.
Featured Blog – Go Ahead...Change Your Story!!! Many of us live in a repetitive cycle as though we’re just working to patch up today’s leaks, but doing it every single day. It’s the story of sameness or complacency. For some it’s a knowing and for others it’s almost as though they're not conscious of it until circumstances begin causing obvious derailments. Randell Mark Olson invites us to recognize that we are the authors of our life’s story and that we can choose to rewrite the script and step into a new and fulfilling life. We can begin today!
Featured Group – what a great time of year to highlight our Goals Group – headed up by Scott Moore. Don’t wait until January to decide what you want to accomplish in the New Year. Plan now and you’ll be amazed at the progress that will occur by the time January 1st gets here. Something almost magical happens the moment you write down clear goals. And remember what Brian Tracy says: “If you don’t set goals for yourself, you are doomed to work to achieve the goals of someone else.” If you need some structure and maybe a push, jump in this group now.
Featured Member - our featured member this week is Erich Kurschat from Chicago, IL. I want you to read Erich’s story in his own words which he has agreed to let me share:

Subject: Fwd: Friday update from Dan Miller - will this work?
With more than 12 years' experience in corporate human resources, I realized early in 2011 that I had a passion for the DiSC assessment and I wanted to see what I could do with it outside of my day job.
I yearned to start a small business, yet I didn't feel that I was "wired" as an entrepreneur. The idea of setting off into uncharted territory was somewhat frightening for this high CS on the DiSC profile. However, with your voice on the 48 Days podcast as my weekly dose of much-needed optimism and the 48 days online community offering sound, professional advice, I started Harmony Insights (www.harmonyinsights.com), a business that allows me to work with motivated organizations and individuals looking to enhance communication skills.
The moment that solidified for me that I was on the right path was when, following my first official, paid workshop in a suburb of Chicago, a participant approached me and asked for my business card. She was employed at a school in Switzerland and wanted me to travel there to work with her executive team. I may have even laughed at the time, considering it a long-shot that I would end up making the trip. However, within a matter of days, I was already researching flights and making plans to travel abroad. Sitting on Lake Geneva, I couldn't have been more cognizant of my gratitude for the 48 Days resources and materials, as well as your own consistent encouragement to follow one's passions.
You've inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone, and now I have the treasured memories of a week of work and play in Switzerland to remind me of the extraordinary opportunities that lay before me.
With my sincere thanks,
Founder & Behavior Coach
