I had the pleasure to be part of a Google Hangout with Andy Traub to discuss Jeff Goins' new book The In-Between and how to share books with others.
You can pre-order the book right now and get a TON of free bonuses.
Check out the Google Hangout recording - it was a lot of fun!

Comment by Adam Rico on June 5, 2013 at 7:29am Hi Carly,
Welcome to Unlock Your Passion. You mention that you wanted to be a performer but didn't have an opportunity to receive training in those areas.
What can you do to begin getting some training in ballet, singing, and acting?
Yes, you're an adult now but we never stop learning. And yes there are others out there who have been doing this stuff since they were 2 years old. But so what?
These are your passions, start immersing yourself in them and you'll be amazed at what happens in your life.
You're fortunate you know what your passions are. Now you just need to give yourself permission to pursue them.
I hope that helps Carly. Please let me know how I can continue to serve you in a meaningful way.
All My Best,
Adam Rico

Comment by Carly Drake on June 3, 2013 at 8:54am Thanks, but that seems to be another problem I have run into. All of the theaters in my area only have classes for kids. If I were to get involved it would be teaching kids. Just because I'm a woman and have kids doesn't mean that I like them or want to teach them.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Carly, I can SO identify with the joy you get from giving a story. I am so blessed to have six children that LOVE hearing a story. They are a great audience. Do you have an audience? If you're looking for one, I know our local library is always looking for people to read stories to children. They can be a tough crowd, but great training ground. Barnes and Noble may have similar opportunties. Just a thought-- one storyteller to another.
Comment by Carly Drake on June 3, 2013 at 8:00am Thanks for the invite Adam. I know what my passion is, but don't know how to translate it into a job. When I was a little girl I wanted to take ballet, singing, and acting lessons. I wanted to be a performer, not for the fame or glory (I actually hate attention---I'm a bit of an introvert) but because I love telling a story. I love going to a live performance and getting goosebumps or crying or laughing. It's that visceral experience that I want to give to an audience. I want them to leave reality behind for a time and join me in fantasy land where anything is possible.
My parents would not allow me to take lessons in any of those things so now that I'm an adult I'm without the skills my passions require.
For the past 13 years I have been searching and trying everything to find a suitable replacement for those passions. I even wrote a book---thinking I would enjoy the story telling aspect. No matter what I try, nothing seems to satisfy those passions.
