Graduation talk - advice

I was totally asked to give my first graduation speech in June that will be right around the 15 minute mark. Has anyone done one before that has some good takeaways to make it a great event about them? I was thinking of using one or two stories that…Continue

Does anyone do group coaching?

This question isn't about speaking, but I know many of you do coaching as well so I thought I would ask. I've been approached by a former boss of the college I work for to do some group coaching for some of her current staff. She's used me before…Continue

Julie...congrats!!! Love seeing you speak it forward :)

I'd wait a 7 days, then send her one or two sentence email that say, "Did it arrive?" I do this all the time and it almost always causes the person to respond.

Just started sending out my September Revolving Door Marketing emails (it's one of the key strategies we train on at the Speak It Forward Boot Camp - Dec. 10-12). For those who have attended, you know this is a great way to develop TOMA (Top of Mind Awareness) with prospective clients. Usually, association clients will reach out 4-6 months ahead of time to book you to speak, so the Revolving Door approach is a great way to stay in front of them in a positive way on a regular basis.

All that to say, I just started sending my September Revolving Door emails out yesterday (I send about 250-300 a day over a 5-day period), and I received 2 last minute requests to speak in the beginning of October. Both basically said, "This came at just the right time. We have a speaking emergency. Can you help us out?"

Looks like it's going to be an extra October with 7 state conferences...but I'm up to the challenge :)

All that to say, consistency is the KEY to the Revolving Door. Serving prospective clients on a regular basis and giving them value with no strings attached.

Congrats Julie!! So excited for you!!! It would seem to pinging her while you are still fresh in her mind is best as sometimes people's excitement can wear off. I use to take these types of kudos as great, I am booked, however finding that follow up is really key as people mean well, but sometimes just get busy so keeping top of mind to serve is a great way to go.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Last weekend I co-facilitated a Leadership Retreat Weekend in beautiful Northern Michigan!  You may have recalled I started a discussion on what to charge.

The weekend was a HUGE SUCCESS!!  I had SO MUCH fun.  It wasn't even work for me:)  I met 20 amazing peeps that are leaders in the community and connected with many of them.  Dynamic people who truly want to make a difference in the world.  Doesn't get much better.

One of the participants asked if I would be available to speak for her organization.  Drrrrrr, YES!!  I gave her my card and told her to contact me.  Yesterday I sent out personalized notes to each participant as a way to stay connected, etc.

Here is my question, if I don't hear from this woman (Becky) how long should I wait to follow up and should I bring up the speaking idea to her?

Thanks so much!

Jill's DISC Deep Dive is awesome - participated in a few weeks ago and definitely worth investing in if you are interesting in learning how to implement DISC. http://theworkshopbox.com/DeepDive/

Great to have you here, Vitalis!

Comment by Vitalis Essala on September 15, 2015 at 6:37am

Hi, dear all.

I can’t believe I’m just joining this group now. I didn’t even know it exists. Thanks Kent for inviting me here. Better late than never, right? And who even said this is late! This is the right time. I have a burning desire for public speaking and returning to the work that has nothing to do with my passion can be bothersome. Hope to help and receive help here. Blessings to all.

Just had it pointed out that the link below is dead. I even tested it - because I know my "I" wiring gets in the way.
