Welcome Jan.

In 1978, three months after I was promoted from a telephone repairman to a manager, an attorney told me "if it's not written, it did not occur." This scared me enough to begin writing EVERYTHING in my journal, day runner, Franklin Planner, spiral notebook or whatever I was using at the time.

I strongly urge you to begin this. When I began speaking, I had over two decades of Ah Ha and Oh Crap moments and what led to each. Like Kent said, find what makes you come alive. I have created a Written Warehouse of stories that hopefully will take attendees to a destination of success after a "Journey Through My Journal."

My background is Leadership and Human Resources and thankfully that is what I love.

Good Luck,

Greg

Welcome Jan! Glad to see you join us here.

As for your question, commenting on how you developed your training niche, wow...that's a loaded question. There are a lot of little details on how to launching a business that has speaking as a part of it. One thing to do is start speaking wherever you can. Another thing to do is find topics that make you come alive.

Probably my #1 suggest would be to browse through all the discussions we've had in our discussion forum. It will take you a while, but when you're done you will have gained a ton of insight into some of the ins-and-outs of speaking.

Hope this helps!

Hey welcome Jan!!!! This would make a great discussion topic so the group can comment and keep the discussion train going (just click on the "add a discussion link above"). In having gone through a very thorough journey of working with coaches like the awesome the Kent Julian as well as coaching speakers 1:1, it definitely is a question that many of us have struggled with so way to go on asking the group this question. Looking forward to seeing what input you get as well as sharing. Again, starting a discussion on this would be easiest.

Hi everyone!  I just joined this group b/c as I'm reading 48 Days, I know I want to be a trainer/speaker.  I've always wanted to teach since I was a kid, but not in a traditional classroom.  I'm not afraid of speaking in front of people now and I handle some training at my work now:  Diversity, Drug & Alcohol and Sexual Harassment.  I don't want to stay in this arena though.......  I was wondering if some of you could comment on how you developed your training niche.

Kent, THANK YOU!!! I am really jazzed to get to work with Jill on our 21 day program as she is pretty rocking awesome. Fun to not only get to be a part of the first 21 day journey with folks, but also to be creating an evergreen after talk product that will go along nicely with my bundle product sales.

Hey gang, quick note. Jill Davis and I are offering our $147 course (21 Days to Developing Your Inner Core Strength) for only $21 for those that sign up before 2/28. Thought I would post here for 2 reasons. 1. The content is going to be great. 2. Even if the course doesn't interest you, know that some of you would benefit from attending just to view how we do this from a coaching template perspective as coaching can be a nice revenue stream to go with your speaking. Having invested thousands of dollars in the BEST coaches over the years, it has been really helpful to participate in programs and template the things that can work for me. If you are interested, please click HERE for more info.
