I encourage you to check out this discussion and listen to this podcast from my friend Jessie Lahey. He's has a very cool concept here, and the interview is with THE Dan Miller.

I voted for 2, but make picture bigger like five, and brighter like 3. So really it is #5 with the pose and facial expression of 2. Or 5 with a smile. Pretty much what others are saying!
I do like Jeff's suggestion of confident arms folded.
Comment by Kent Julian on December 9, 2011 at 3:32pm Thanks Jeff and Maureen. Right now, #5 is winning hands down.
What's cool about the cover is I can change out a picture any time. So, next time I do a photo shoot, I'll get another toe pointing picture with a better smile :) and I'll try some of the pose Jeff is suggesting.
One more thing...the tan is for real. That's what I look like during the summer b/c of coaching swim team. I get pretty dark being on a pool deck for 5-6 hours a day :)
Comment by Jeff Long on December 9, 2011 at 3:05pm Kent,
I don't know if your marketing to students or adults, but perhaps a photo of you with your arms crossed with a pleasant smile would work. A pose that exudes a friendly confidence. I personally would want to learn about goals from someone confidently knows the answers but is kind enough to share them.
Comment by Maureen Zappala on December 9, 2011 at 2:42pm I submitted a comment, but I don't know where it went, so I'll repost my thoughts.
I would suggest eliminating "Goal Getting" from the bottom phrase because it echoes the title of the book. I'd leave the bottom as "Goal setting system that really works."
You are so photogenic with a smile that lights up the page. I like the facial expression in #1, but I prefer your body position in #5.
If I had to chose between those 2, I'd pick #5 because there's better visual balance with the arrow and your suit than the arrow and the bright white shirt.
Comment by Kent Julian on December 9, 2011 at 2:17pm thanks Jeff...you're right about the pictures. #1 and #3 were done in a studio. I'll do another round of studio pictures soon.
Comment by Jeff Long on December 9, 2011 at 2:03pm Kent,
Here are my humble thoughts....The first thing I noticed was that in option #1 & #3, the lighting on you (and your face) is MUCH better. The other options make you look like you're lurking in the shadows. You look a bit too small in #2 & #4.
All that being said, I think I prefer #5 (even though you're a bit dark) because it's fun without being too goofy (no offense! haha).
Comment by Kent Julian on December 9, 2011 at 1:53pm Hey Everyone...
