Thank you for taking the time to give me such good insight at the bootcamp last week. I am just getting back to "normal" at the business.

I plan to put a new sales program into place in a few weeks.  I don't know if I mentioned that we are selling our route business but will stay on as a consultant to keep our present clientele. I am also being retained to expand the business as a salesman so I am looking forward to "relational sales" as a method to go in a different direction frommy past.

Thank you again for your wisdom!

Hi Amelia, and congratulations! I hope you'll find contentment and satisfaction in you new career. My counsel to you is this: "Remember that telling isn't selling." A really good salesperson listens twice as much as they speak. Your customers will tell you what they want and they'll also tell you why. Just listen and then help them. Start with open ended questions such as "Tell me, what would like to learn about ?". People love to talk about themselves! Let us know how it goes, will you? Thanks!

Hi Amelia, That is a great question. Sales can be so much fun and also so exhausting. Having been in Real Estate sales for the past 8 years, I have realized that many things are not a fit for me but also many things are a great fit. Often I would focus on what I was not good at and it would consume all my energies; therefore leaving me burned-out.

Do you have previous sales experience? One thing I would recommend would be to take the DISC personality profile. This was an immense help.

Hi everyone. I joined this group because I have just taken a sales job selling reading programs to students. I am finding the job exciting at times and discouraging at others. I am looking for some guidance around maintaining the correct state of mind throughout the sales day. I am also trying to find a way to sell that doesn't feel so draining. Look forward to being part of this group.

I believe the essence of great salesmanship is the ability to communicate properly and treat people the way they want to be treated. Sounds you like you have that skill. The next ingredient is enthusiasm. It will hard for a people person like you to be successful if you do not find a product you believe in and would be happy to sell to your mom.

The next step is learning a sales process that fits your personality. Selling is a learned skill and we are not born with it.

Let me know how I can help on this journey.
