Okay, so I'm cheating a little...I used to read a blog called "Mama Says Om" and I thought it was a great title. I love yoga and the pieceful meditation and discipline of focusing your mind and body. Namaste is commonly used as a closing at the end of yoga class, and basically is the essence of honoring each other and all that makes you, well, you. "The peace within me honors the peace within you." I love that!
As for the Mama part, well, we all have one in some shape or form. Whether it's a blood Mama, legal Mama, or a mother figure, we all tend to look to someone for that. My niche, my focus, is on families. I love all aspects of what family is, and know that it can also be the ultimate issue that can sabotage a life. We see situations of abuse and neglect...we see pessimism and anger toward the world, and what is the first thing a counselor goes back to? Your childhood. Your family..
So I want to use this group as a place to really look at your family life. As we grow our careers--whether it's us doing our own thing, or supporting a spouse doing an entreprenerial endeavor, it can take a toll on family life. So here is where we can bring up issues that are concerning us, ideas, fun family suggestions, etc. I'm open to what this becomes...and I know that when all is said and done, no amount of financial success can compensate for what is lacking in your home. So, let's make sure that our vocational success directly relates to our personal family success!
No matter what your age is, you can benefit from being in this group-- you may be a mama, are married to one, have a mama, or just want to know how to treat others with the utmost respect and love. The greatest thing on this earth is love, so let's collaborate to create as many loving homes as we can--going back to my own Mama's idea of "Creating a Haven of Peace in a Broken World"

Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm not quite sure what you mean with your question - what things do we do with our kids to have one-on-one time?
Comment by Cheri Masu on April 24, 2013 at 4:23am Hi everyone. I am interested to know what other mothers are doing spend ample time at home with their little ones.
Comment by Karen Putz on January 18, 2013 at 8:18am Hi Ashley! I love your post-- you are making a difference for all the moms to come! What a positive experience a cesarean can be with the preparation you and your team took.
Comment by Ashley Logsdon on January 18, 2013 at 8:10am Hey everyone, just checking in on everyone - I just had an interview with Baptist Hospital about my delivery with baby #3 (you can read that blog post above) and I'm eager to see where everyone else is in their lives - how about an update/check-in. What is going on - anything we can start a discussion on?
Comment by Marty Wenger on January 1, 2013 at 11:02pm Spent a wonderfully exhausting Holiday season with my family. Kids "came home for Christmas" and we all attended a beautiful snow-themed wedding for the daughter of very dear friends. By tonight we are all back in our respective houses where we sleep, 1000 miles apart, and warmly relishing the hours we spent together.
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT:
Good morning Friends! I have an exciting announcement. After making some adjustments, A 40 Day Habit Between Friends: Taking it to the Next Level is available again on Amazon in ebook and printed format. In addition, my second devotional, A 40 Day Habit Between Friends: Because They Need You is available in ebook format now and will be available in paperback format in a few days.
A 40 Day Habit Between Friends: Taking it to the Next Level is very casual, the way I would talk to you while we walk around the block or sit together in a coffee shop. The topics range from some deeper discussions to how similar my marriage is to washing laundry and mowing the lawn. I pray that you will be encouraged, challenged, and find hope when you finish all forty devotionals.
A 40 Day Habit Between Friends: Because They Need You is a set of 40 devotionals taken from my blogs where I enjoy talking to you, friend to friend, about the joys and trials of raising children. Get ready to be encouraged and challenged in a lighthearted way while taking a deeper look at the heart I have for my own kids. Sit down, grab your favorite beverage, and get ready to be uplifted while journeying together as parents.
Both devotionals are small enough to fit in your purse or briefcase and are great for last minute stocking stuffers or that “Happy New Year” present to start the year off right. The link below will take you to all four devotionals, so you can choose which one is perfect for that special someone, or maybe even yourself:
Here are two links to get you started*:

As an extra incentive, to those of you who buy either book (either ebook or printed version), if you write a small review on Amazon and email me that you did, I will be happy to send you a free gift of five additional entries, bringing your total to forty five devotions, instead of the forty in the book. Please email me at: clSwalwell99@gmail.com after you have posted the review so I can give you my gift of thanks.
Even if you choose not to buy the book, if you have read my blog and enjoy what I have to say, please take a few minutes and hit the “like” button on Amazon. I would be very appreciative.

Unfortunately this has been a pretty inactive group for quite some time! This is a no-no on our .net site- all groups are active. Since I'm the founder's daughter I think they're giving me a little grace in that matter! :-)
We are unschooling/homeschooling our kids - although since our oldest is only 5, we aren't doing a ton yet - not legally registering her until next year. We started a blog last year, and, as life has gotten in the way and other priorities have risen, we haven't done anything on it in a while. However, it has some informative posts on our journey last year: http://familylifelearners.com/.
If you are familiar with Pinterest, it is an incredible resource for educational ideas and links. Check out my board for information overload on things you can do! http://pinterest.com/namastemamarose/educational-inspiration/
I'd love to write more about what all we're doing - we can start a discussion on it if there are any others interested...
Comment by Tim West-Go West Coaching on September 21, 2012 at 6:46pm How many home schoolers do we have in the group? We started this year and I was wondering how the first year went for you.
Comment by Marty Wenger on March 16, 2012 at 9:01pm Thanks for the blog post regarding "Mom, I'm Fat". What a wonderful intervention by a mom who knows how to love much.
Comment by Ashley Logsdon on October 12, 2011 at 5:24am Tim, she is adorable! This is such a cute picture! Kids always create their own learning curve for you, no matter what the background is...even if everything is lined up perfectly, they still tend to throw curve balls at us! I'm thrilled to hear that you two have bonded so well, and that she has a positive outlook/personality - I just did a video testimonial for Zig Ziglar's new book, talking about how my parents made me sit through "attitude adjustments" when I was little...to get a "checkup from the neck-up" and get rid of my "stinkin' thinkin". Attitude is vital to success, and I feel like it's so important to help foster a positive outlook on life in our little children.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share an update here (and of course, a precious picture!)
