Criag,

Not participating in NANOWRIMO but have declared the month of November as my personal National Novel Revision Month:)

Are you participating? If so, give us an update.

Andy,
You have the right idea -- start blogging and find 3 to 4 other blogs that interest you and comment regularly.
Easy for me to say -- have I launched my blog yet? No.

the Escape

Hey, all

Just posted my first short story, the Escape, on Kindle. As expected, I'm the only buyer so far simply because no one really knows about it. All the same, it was a valuable exercise just to see how the whole process works. The part that I'm going to have to learn is advertising/marketing and so forth. How do I get the word out and get people interested? I'm not an active blogger which Dan recommends so that should be where I start. We'll see how this goes.

A Too Darn Happy Moment

Thank you, Connie, for doing that.  Great advice about asking Erin.  The "dating" my piece is a good one.  The song is old, but I put the year (which would have made the song relevant) in the book too, so hopefully that's okay.  And the other things are "McDonalds, Disney movies, Jim Brickman" making it relevant to the story instead of just saying, "a restaurant, a kid friendly movie, an artist."

I will shoot Erin an email and ask her, but still curious to hear from your friend too.  Thank you for taking the time to do that.

Have a great day - Cheri :)

I have emailed a friend about your questions regarding mentioning movie titles, McDonalds, etc...I don't think it's a problem but i can't say for sure. I bet Erin Casey could set us straight.
In mentioning those titles or places, just make sure in doing so you are honoring your timeline and setting (like mentioning a title of a song that has a release date prior to the point in time of your novel).
If, however, you are ceating a timeless piece, avoid mentioning places and titles that date your material.
You might consider emailing Erin your question. If I get an answer from my friend, I'll let you know, but asking Erin might get you a faster response.
