Be Your Finest Art

Dorsey McHugh and Joanne Miller are artists and writers. Together we have written a book BE YOUR FINEST ART released June, 2014.  This group will involve and target anyone who feels they have a creative bent and we believe everyone does. Sometimes that nature is long buried or thought to be frivolous and not to be taken seriously.  We are here to prove otherwise. We want your input as we dialog about the importance of tapping regularly into your right-brain.  We promise it will enhance your well-being on many levels.

Our Book Is HERE!

After a long wait while our book Be Your Finest Art was being printed in China, our shipment finally arrived last week.  During our Wednesday morning art class we heard a big truck lumbering up the lane with our load of books. To say we were excited would be a gross understatement! We all gathered outside and took photos and had a grand celebration. If you are local (or not far away) perhaps you can join us at our first big book signing celebration at Two Old Hippies in the Gulch in Nashville.  It is June 24th from 6-7:30 PM and Dan Miller will be interviewing us.  Light refreshments will be served. Hope you can join us!

Does anyone here send out an artist newsletter?  This is something I've tried back in 2012 but I got lazy and it didn't take off.  I think I felt mostly overwhelmed and discouraged.    If you do send out a newsletter, would you  mind to tell us…Continue

More Left Brained?

Dorsey and I are alike in our love of creativity and the arts.  Dorsey and I are very different in the way we approach tasks and in our organizational skills.  We had a discussion about this and I told her that drawing more on my right brain has…Continue

Hi Joanne and Dorsey. You should be proud. Your book is both inspiring to read as well as beautiful. I have shared in on my Facebook fan page and with my blog subscribers.

I wish you the best of success with it.

Dorsey and I are promoting our book as much as we know how.  Hoping that word of mouth will pay off.  Lots of talk about it going around.  Getting great reviews and comments from readers.  And everyone says that it is a piece of art in itself....which was our plan.  I wrote a guest blog forErin Casey, My Writer's Connection, on becoming unstuck if you are a writer.  Hope you will read it.  There are some good tips in it.  But I believe the article isn't just for writers.  All Creatives get stuck sometimes.  I give six tips to help you when that happens.  Click here to read it.

We are so excited about Dorsey and Joanne's book!!! We wish we could be at the book party tomorrow. Joanne sat in with Pei and I the other day for a fun interview where she talks about her upbringing, journey, health challenges, and wonderful discoveries. Hope you get a chance to listen. Click here for the podcast.

Diana, thanks for the article- I had no idea Laura Ignalls Wilder (one of my favorite childhood authors) didn't start writing until after 60!)
