I'm thrilled to have this group--the 48 Days Workshops are such an incredible resource for anyone who is looking to find the work they love...or even to confirm that they are already doing it!
This group is for those looking to lead the workshops--whether that is in church, in corporations, through your coaching business, etc. This is the place to share your experiences, both good and bad, and learn about methods that work! Remember that everyone brings their own unique personality to the class--being a facilitator is an important factor on truly selling the classes--participants have to get excited about you as the leader!
This group is designed for you all to ask questions, share ideas, and generally encourage one another to really network together and make the classes (and your own personal endeavors) a success!
If you have any questions concerning the 48 Days workshops and/or facilitating them, please contact Nathan Logsdon at Nathan@48days.com.

I will be honest with you about the videos. I personally love them, but I ask everyone to view them on their own time...homework. The reason is simple...I love to teach and interact with everyone. Time is precious during this two hour segment so I try to use it the best I can. You can use the videos for sure, but I want as much time for teaching and interaction as I can.
The college will be doing some advertising but I am not relying on them only. The name of the college is called IPFW. It stands for Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, the Warsaw, Indiana location. It is a small branch, but they do a lot.
I am attaching the Word file I sent them for a description.
I will be posting more later as I progress towards this.
Comment by Don Roulo on November 7, 2012 at 4:31pm Mary,
I will be putting out the information to churches, the local chamber, facebook, twitter and most importantly...word of mouth. The college will be putting the word out too, but I am not relying on them only.
This is the first time I have done it at a college so I will be working on the actual marketing soon, but I have no template other than what I have done before. I know I will also put the word out to several other non-profits too. I am still working on it to be honest.
I will keep updating as I move forward.
Comment by Mary Lawson on November 5, 2012 at 7:27am Don,
Do you have a different/specific marketing plan when working through the college?
I have done radio and print advertisiing and can't seem to generate enough interest. One suggestion from the college was that the class was too long, 6 weeks one night a week. I hate to change that - it would be impossible to get the most out of the class.
Suggestions? Ideas?
Comment by Leta Muncie on November 4, 2012 at 10:29pm Hey Don,
Thanks for the great info. Are you using the videos at the community college? and doing two per week? How are you breaking up the class time. Ex: Intro, video, discussion/activity (break) video, discussion/activity or something like that.
I'm not sure how to break it up. What college are you doing it at? Are they doing some of your advertising or are you doing it all?
In our community schools program there is a catalog they put out and it also is included in the Community College catalog. What type of course description should I use? (all of this is open to anyone who wants to respond)!
Just wondering how other people are doing this.
Thanks Don and everyone for your help. Love this networking "thingy!"
Leta

I am also doing a workshop at a community college starting in February. I just finalized the dates. This is what I am doing, but you can make it work for you.
I am doing 6 Thursday nights at 2 hours each. I like this format because it allows time for homework to be done for the next class.
I am being paid by the college. I have worked out a deal where I am being paid a base amount, plus a bonus for each person over a certain amount, plus material cost - to cover the workshop kit. It all works out as if I was being paid by the individual. I am still making what I would have made per person, but I am being paid by the college.
Just fugure what profit you want to make per person and start calculating from there. EX: You want to make $200/person... 200+75 for kit/shipping = 275. The college will want a portion for themselves most likely, so that needs to be added to the $275. Maybe they want to make $100/person so it would be a total of $375. I hope that makes sense.
I am doing the 48 Days class, then I am following up and doing my own entrepreneurial workshop when it is over. I am hoping to get some of the same people who took the 48 Days class to do the entrepreneurial course I do to.
Hope this helps!
Leta,
Can you start this as a discussion? I am anxious to see the answers and would LOVE to reference back to the discussion as I too will be looking into doing workshops.
Thanks!!! GREAT questions!
Comment by Leta Muncie on November 3, 2012 at 8:20pm Okay...all you seasoned facilitators out there. I am putting together a class/workshop to offer at a community college; through the community schools program so there is a little more flexibility in how classes are offered. So...knowing that setting; I have a few questions:
1) Should I do a 6-week (doing two lessons a week) or a 12-week?
2) Should I offer it as a "adjunct" instructor where I will be paid from the college schedule...(I think most of them is $500.00 a term/class)?
3) Should I offer a one-day shortened; intensive as an intro. and do the longer class later?
Any feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Great idea ont the similar timeframes for starting, giving two options. I will have to work on that
Thanks!
Comment by Nathan Logsdon on May 30, 2012 at 8:17am Darren,
I like the idea of giving two options. The intensive sessions can be successful and I would encourage you to be sure to clearly communicate that you are leading a course for the fast track and a 6-8 week course. If you can start them at the same time your close rate might be a bit higher because people can choose which one fits their needs.
Comment by Darren Rayborn on May 19, 2012 at 12:47pm Camden,
Thanks for the information. I have toyed with the idea of doing a two-weekend boot camp style seminar. That could be a second class outside of the church or business platform of 6-8 weeks. I believe there are those who would rather move much faster for many reasons.
I am following yours and others' viewpoints and experiences in sharing the 48 Day seminars. Pretty cool how each individual does have differing viewpoints.
Thanks!!!
