I've been doing some really good studies in the word. Have been lead to play bass on both worship teams at church and I am the AV Team leader. Feel like I am being called to be the worship director. The problem I am having is we just lost our worship leader and now have two new worship leaders. Both are long time members of the church. Doing the scheduling, working with the leaders and the teams is a great thing and I really love o do it. I have a vision for were worship should go within the church. This also happens to match up with our Pastors vision. I would love to do this daily but it doesn't pay enough (like nothing) and feel it may cause conflict with one of the leaders. I still have all this skate equipment which we are thinking about just taking our loss and moving on. I am really enjoying worship and planning for our church. I am stuck. I have been playing around with making a training CD and test for audio technicians as well as a training curriculum. Just looking for ideas. It is hard to do this on my own. My wife is supporting me in the later part but doesn't like that that the worship teams at church are taking so much time from our family. HOW DO I SAY NO to something I enjoy doing so much? Should I be focusing more on starting an audio training curriculum? Which I also enjoy but haven't had time to work on due to my 40+ hour/week job as an auto mechanic and the 20+ hours I am probably spending on worship and leading the AV Team.
Thank you for "Listening"

Your first responsibility is your family - not your church. If you can be the provider you want to be and give 4-5 hours a week to your church, that would probably be acceptable to your wife. It's not at all surprising that she resents 20+ hours there.
There are 3 legs to the stool. You want to have Passion and Talent. But you also have to have an Economic Model.
Dan,
Thank you for your reply. My eyes have been opened. I was just shooting out a number on the 20+ hours at church. I was figuring time at church and everything I do for church at home. I just sat down and actually calculated my hours at church and it is more. I am at church 16-20 hours a week plus the additional work I do at home. Your right I do have a passion for what I do at church and the talent the Lord has given me. What I do not have yet is an economic model. That I will work on. I will heed your advise. Thank you so much for what you do for everyone in with your gift of "helps".
God Bless,
David
