Hello Everyone,
I had a thought today about what Real Adventure looks like. I'd like to share that with you and get your input. Okay, so I know we are on the same sheet of music, let me define Real Adventure.
PaM's Definition of Real Adventure: To make plans to take a risk to explore a new thing in your own life, especially moving into unknown territory.
I love learning something new like how to create digital designs in a new software, then creating something absolutely awesome (even if it is after many hours and tries later). Then there's making plans to discover a new place (a museum, a city, a country), the sense of wonder is terrific once I get there. Here's another one, creating a new business or career, then laying the ground work to make the plans come to fruition. This is one of my new adventures...I have a few others going on right now.
I have to admit, I was approaching this latest adventure a little different than a new skill or my latest vacation...like it was a life threatening thing. I would envision myself either excelling tremendously in a super -fast pace or crashing and burning.
Today, I made a choice that I'd approach it like my other successful adventures, I WILL ENJOY THE PROCESS of planning, adjusting, learning, growing, regrouping, and finally succeeding as the Lord leads my steps until the plans are completed, adventure accomplished!
I think Real Adventure does not have to be life threatening or fearful. I am reminded of some words of encouragement and instruction in the Bible
Proverb 4:10-12 NIV
10 Listen, my son (or daughter)*, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many.
11 I instruct you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
when you run, you will not stumble.
*My addition for practical application.
I am trusting the Lord is going to continue to guide me with every step I take on this new adventure.
I came up with a new approach moving forward: Enjoy, Share, Reach, Map, Repeat!
Enjoy the ride.
Share it with those going in the same direction.
Reach the destination (even after detours).
Map out a new adventure.
Repeat (this is the part where I find a new adventure to enjoy)!
Two Questions for you...
1. What is your is current REAL ADVENTURE?
2. How do you succesfully accomplish your adventure and enjoy the ride?

I've been thinking a lot lately about how we spend so much time disliking ourselves, and frustrated that we're not where we expected we would be or frustrated when we compare ourselves with others...and finally we look back and realized that all the complaining we were doing was actually our life...we missed out on our lives because we were so busy expecting something else.
I'd rather just enjoy the process. Thank you for sharing this :-)
Permalink Reply by PaMela Godswill on February 24, 2012 at 12:26pm You are welcome. I am finding that I am having to make this decision daily. This week, I also decided to begin to read my Life Plan and Business Plan that I created with Joel's help on more frequent basis like...every 2 days or so.
I gave it some thought, I am just picking things off my list to do, even if I don't feel like anything is happening as quickly as I'd like. My main goal is to have a Balanced, Rich, and Adventurous LIFE/Business. So, I have just been going to the plan, picking an objective to work on, then trusting the Lord to make it work. Some of the things I've done in the past two weeks led to closed doors. The Lord reminded me that a closed door is as much a part of His leading as an open door.
So, I am busy walking it out. As far as the enjoying it part, that too is a decision. I was getting as busy and frustrated doing the stuff I love as I was doing the stuff I hated. This week, I took that to the Lord in prayer and decided what needed to change was my attitude, not just my activity! So, I took that back to the Lord as well.
I am now on my way to a hiking trip. I will write about this as a travel adventure to include on my blog with in the next few weeks. I will make sure I post it. I have just completed my work for the day. I am getting packed up and ready to go ENJOY some time in nature, which I love.
I hope anyone reading this makes a decision to enjoy their life, selves, relationships, work, etc today...moving forward!
