48Days.NET

The message this past weekend really got me thinking on God and success. My pastor was talking about the foundation of our country and all the men that helped found this great and free country. All the men he had mentioned from George Washington to John Adams to other highly respected, history changing men, had a commonality to their success. Their Faith!

Many of the people that I have looked up to as successful people in business and well balanced have all been strong in their faith with God. Just this morning listening to 48 Days to the Work You Love, Dan Miller had mentioned about a balanced life is like a spoked wheel. Spiritual, Work, Health ( I can not recall the other one LOL). He was talking about knowing and trusting in what you feel called to because you have a personal, everyday relationship with God. So making a decision shouldn't be as stressful and difficult as what alot of us lead on to make it!

I guess what I am talking about here is that God has been convicting me of my relationship with Him and that if I long to have that successful, well balanced life then I must engage in Him! Everday! Reading Proverbs today really reiterated this, talking about holding onto wisdom and seek her like a missing treasure! It might not be success defined as a ton of money but I think success is defined as a enjoyable, balanced life of - Spiritual, Health, Finances/Work and Family!

Joe,

Matthew 6:33 is one of my favorite verses…”But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things (food, clothes, shelter = provision) will be given to you as well.” I believe this also includes our dreams, passions and a successful, balanced life, which will come from God if we keep Him first. I’m so glad that my success in business ultimately doesn’t depend on me and my efforts, but God. The only requirement is that I serve Him wholeheartedly. What a stress reliever!

Thank you for sharing your heart,
Bonnie

Hey Joe,
Your comments hit home! My husband and I own a small business in Knoxville, Tn. We decided months ago that we were not going to participate in the recession. We are both Christian and have had the most amazing renewal of faith and thirst for God's word and involvement in our lives. Even though these bad economic times have been difficult for us, we keep praying that God will give us the wisdom we need to make sound decisions for our family and business and the energy to keep growing our business and increasing our sales. We pray that God will not only bless us, but that he will protect and bless our customers with keeping/finding good jobs, etc.. If our customers are blessed and taken care of, then we will be too!! Keep it up!

Thanks, Joe, for your inspiration. I struggle with this area so much in my own life since I am about to take the leap of going from my JOB to launching my own company. You're right, if we have God backing us up, then we should not be afraid if we feel called to do something else. I'm definitely trying to get my balance and for two years have had to deal with an hour-long commute to and from work along with raising two children. Sometimes it seems almost unbearable the way my life seems so chaotic. I've told God that I cannot keep up this pace any longer and that I feel like my life pushes me, instead of me determining what my life should be. Balance is key in having a happy and healthy lifestyle. Thank you again for sharing this message.

Suzanne, Praise God on you and your husband's faith in Him! With all the negative images and news being reported EVERYWHERE it is very easy to get bombarded with the recession bomb! But just like Dan said those who made it through the Holocaust were the ones that focused on another tomorrow and a better tomorrow! If we focus on that better tomrrow and know the God is sovereign in ALL things (including a colampsing world economy) then we will have made it through any and all trials!

Keep the balance! Keep Him first!

What is the meaning/definition of faith?

Believing and Trusting in something or someone unseen. If you have that everyday, personal relationship with God then why would He give you a desire in your heart just to hurt you in the long run. I feel God wants us to succeed He wants us to be happy. He created this earth as an unlimited playground for us!
If you as a parent heard one of your precious little ones say 'mommy, mommy! I want that bicycle!'. As any loving parent would want to do, you go out and get that bicycle! You have it sitting right there in the driveway and your little comes out can't wait to jump on it and ride to the ends of the earth. You feel so proud of your little one and can't wait to see them enjoy that bike and ride until the wheels fall off. But then the child stops and just stares at the bike. They turn around and look at you and ask 'Is this mine?', you smile, 'of course! get on ride!'. They turn to the bike, maybe get a little closer, turn back to you, 'Are you sure? I don't think it is!'. 'No, no it is all yours, I got this just for you!' as your heart begins to break. As your child flicks the streamers on the handle bars, they turn running back to you saying, 'Nope, it's not mine, that wasn't for me! I guess you didn't give that to me!', 'Oh, but can I have this?'

Isn't that how we are especially when making decisions, I'm not saying all this to just you,Cara. I'm writing this to maker of this discussion! LOL We all need to understand that God wants the best for us, and if we don't believe that is true then we need to look at our own child and think of what we want for them! God's crazy about us!

Seek the counsel and wisdom of others in who you know will be honest with you about your business. Have them praying about it. And if the green light is there at the final 3 seconds of countdown.......LAUNCH!

Keep those eyes up!

Thank you so much, Joe. You are so right, because as parents, we do want the absolute very best for our children and we want them to enjoy to the fullest what we have given them. This is the exact same thing God wants with all of His children, to enjoy what He has given to us freely and believe that He is directing our path each and every day. Well said! This absolutely speaks to my spirit! I really appreciate your feedback and encouragement. God bless you!

Thank you Joe. Well put post. I feel that God is at the center (within and throughout) of everything I do, and I believe is my driving force for living a well balanced life.

I believe that God created us for more than just zombie-ing our way through the day. He talks so much about about being free in Christ and being free from bondage. I believe that He wants us to be free emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually. In what ways is God calling you whether work related, spiritually, etc.?
